Title: 'A Mapp of Devon-Shire with its Hundreds'.
Cartographer and compiler of heraldic books, working in the later half of the seventeenth century, Richard Blome financed many of his publications by private subscription, he is often accused of plagiarising John Speed, however this map has a particular naive charm of its own. The title is set within an elaborate border of cloth drapes and fruit. The map is dedicated to John Grenville, the Earl of Bath, the Lord Lieutnant of Devon and Cornwall with his coat-of-arms in one corner, a "Table of the Hundreds" is located in the opposite corner, several galleons are seen in full sail in the Channel.
In very good condition - minor overall age toning.
