Title: 'New York from Bergen Hill'.
A magnificent panorama with great detail of New York in the mid nineteenth century, concentrating on Manhattan, with Central Park on the far left. Engraved by R.Loudan, and published seven years before the Brooklyn Bridge opened.
It is in generally good condition except there are some repairs on the verso with some reinforcing paper repairs on the reverse, including a very small area of paper loss at the intersection of the two folds. Some very minor losses of image caused by 'cracking' of the surface layer of the paper along some of the original fold lines. Overall, the paper is slightly brittle but should frame well. The faults are reflected in the price that is approximately 50% below perfect examples of this image.
